STI Policy & Technology Foresight

This course introduces the field of STI policy, its historical development, theoretical frameworks, measurement methods and main policy instruments. The relationship of STI Policy to Technology Foresight will be examined. Different tools of technological foresight will also be discussed including Delphi techniques, trend analysis and scenario construction. The course adopts a balanced approach in discussing different aspects of the theory as well as the practice of STI policy. It also aims to acquaint students with a good understanding of the STI policy context in developing countries in general and Egypt in particular.
